“The declarations of every politician
must be made in a spirit that reinforces relations of good
neighbourship and not the opposite” declared on [Thursday] the
representative pf the European Commission, having been asked to comment
on the declarations of the Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, which
were aimed against Greece and fYROM.
Peter Stano, representative of the Commissioner charged with
Enlargement issues and the European Political Neighnourship, Stefan
Füle, stated: “As you know we do not comment on declarations of
politicians and representatives of countries. I would, however, like to
underline that it is very important for every country and for every
politician that the make declarations that reinforce relations of good
neighbourship and not the opposite””.
We remind that on Wednesday the Albanian Prime Minister claimed that
Albanian territory extends “from Preveza to Persevo, from Skopje to
Podgorodica”.The result of this provocative declaration was the angry
reaction of mr Avramopoulos who announced the cancellation of his visit
to Tirana.
Mr Avramopoulos was due to travel to Albania to be present for the
festivities marking the centenary of the independence of the country.
