“Fordham” University in New York,
USA, honored today the Archbishop of Tirana and Albania, Anastas with the
“Doctor Honoris Causa” title. The official ceremony will be held this afternoon
in the “Rose Hill” university campus.
During this ceremony, his Grace
will deliver a speech with the topic: “Spreading the Gospel in a
multi-religious country. Theologic meditations on other religions”.
Archbishop Anastas is accompanied
by the bishop of Korca, his Grace, Joani. Present in the ceremony will also be
two Albanian bishops living in America, his Grace Nikoni (Pionil) and his Grace
Ilia (Ketri) and many other Albanian orthodox believers living in the US.
Fordham University was founded in
1841 by archbishop of New York, Rev. John Hughes, in the area of the city which
bears the same name. This has been the first roman-catholic university in the
northeastern coast of the USA. The university followed the Jesuit educational
tradition, which had been developed in Europe on the 16th century
and turned into an important center of high education, specialized in
Humanitarian Sciences (Theology, Philosophy, History, Sociology, Pedagogy) This
university attracts today students from all around the world and is considered
to be as one of the best American universities.
Besides this title, his Grace,
Archbishop of Tirana and Albania, Anastas has been bestowed with the title
“Professor Emeritus” of history of religions by the University of Athens and
he’s a Honorary Member of the Athens Academy. Up until today, he has been
honored with similar titles of Humanitarian Sciences (in Theology and Philosophy)
by 17 universities in many countries of the world such as Greece, USA, Romania,
Cyprus, Georgia, Albania, Italy. /ibna/
