Command double eagle Swiss uniform, Albanian flag swing - where does youthful lightness cease, where does treason begin?

By Deborah Lacourrège and Lea Gnos
In uniform, they represent Switzerland. But seven young soldiers in a train compartment prefer the Albanian double eagle - and proudly stretch the gun in the air. On April 2, a man posts the picture with the flag on Facebook. "A chapter comes to an end, but the friends remain," he writes.
An officer, who saw the photo on Facebook, says, "This is bordering on national treason." He understood that Swiss people with a migration background were their roots. "But these men are wearing uniforms, they're obviously still in the service." That is why they should be 100 percent behind the army of the country they serve - and do not pay homage to a foreign flag. "This is a question of decency and respect!"
For this reason, recruits in the service should also intervene in one of the Landessprachen - and not in their native language.
Army spokesman Christoph Brunner rightly tells the officer: "If someone is wearing a Swiss uniform, our flag is the only one we want to see. All other flags have nothing to look for. "
In addition, army-related photographs, which they recorded during their working hours, may only be placed on the Internet with the consent of the superior. In particular, if the recordings "are contrary to the image of the uniform as an expression of the belonging to the army," the service regulation says. "This recording is a non-compliance with service regulations," says Brunner.
The case now goes to the military police, as Christoph Brunner confirms. If they find out who the soldiers of the double-eagle commandos are, they get mail from their commander. They are threatened with a reprimand, an exit lock, a fine or arrest. Of the young men pictured on the flag photo, no one was available for comment.Published on 08.04.2015 Updated on 08/04/2015
