Al Qaeda Members Busted in Turkey

A young lawyer, 25, who had claimed he was al Qaeda leader in Turkey, and another nine suspects were seized, announced the Turkish police. The arrests were made on 28 November, the very same say Pope Benedict arrived in Turkey. During the police raids in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, bomb-making material and a compact disc set to explode when inserted into a computer were also seized. In November 2003, authorities in Turkey put the blame for the explosions in two synagogues, the British consulate and the offices of HSBC bank in Istanbul on a Turkish al Qaeda cell.
